The Kodiak armoured command vehicle is an extensively modified version of the Bear which foregoes transport capacity in favour of a battlefield command centre. This provides a mobile base from which a UCM commander and staff can direct frontline operations.
The Kodiak features a large communications dish and electronic warfare suite mounted on a dedicated trailer allowing the Kodiak to conduct high fidelity ground-orbit communications at a robust level of encryption. In the most desperate of situations, this gives the Kodiak the option to direct tactical directed energy orbital strikes.A Panda is closer to the standard Bear APC in form, but uses an additional trailer derived from the same design as the Kodiak. Although less armoured, the Panda retains its transport space (albeit with a new door mechanism). Without the command suite the trailer instead houses an advanced scanning array. This marvel of design pings nearby dropzones, working in tandem with friendly infantry digital feeds to get a complete and accurate view of the nearby battlefield.
This scanning information is relayed back to local infantry, offering them increased knowledge of the surrounding area. Perfect for both hunting down important intel and for tracking enemies, the Panda is able to help UCM troops to achieve their objectives quickly and with minimum casualties.
Who doesn't love a Bear?
A Kodiak has long been the Command unit of choice for UCM commanders and for good reason! With its thicker armour and 4 Damage points, it can last quite a while under enemy fire! However, it should almost always be hidden away, since its Tactical Orbital Strike is an Indirect fire weapon! Calling down a barrage from orbit is just plain cool, and there's no way round that. It's also got infinite range, uses the blast template, and is Energy 13. What's not to like?
